Please click here to read my post about the regulations and other issues that you need to be aware of when specifying decorative lighting to go over (or near) swimming pools .
One of the solutions I identified is an installation, preferably made of glass, lit from above by IP67 recessed downlighters. (Actually, they may not have to be down-lit—there may be enough ambient light, or they could be cross lit from the adjacent walls or ceiling.)
In this post, I want to show you suggestions for fulfilling this brief from Windfall, the leading exponent of contemporary crystal installations.
It could be something along the lines of a traditional chandelier, like this from a private residence in Austria:
or even Windfall’s iconic Little Balance arrangements. For this installation in Singapore, the Balance modules are spread out…
…but they could also be grouped in a chandelier shape:
A rain of crystal flower clusters might look like this, in Jakarta…
Perhaps large leaves floating down over the pool (as here for a hotel in New York)…
…or something much more solid. These crystal-rule-clad beams continue the lines in the adjacent ceiling made by recessed linear lights (that also use crystals rules as the diffusers).
Personally, I love the delicate branches of Windfall’s Eden in almost any location!
Of course, you could just have fun—maybe some fantasy sea creatures rising out of the sea? This is an example of an installation that does not have downlighters above it.
Or go full-fantasy—the swimmers becoming naiads or mermaids! This is in Jeddah:
Windfall understand the issues that pools raise, so they work with us to find something suitable for your project. If you’d like to discuss these ideas further, or other swimming pool solutions, do get in touch.
